British filmmaker Adam Curtis (It Felt Like a Kiss, The Trap: What Happened to Our Dream of Freedom) digs into the concept of the “post-truth world.” Simply put, it is easier to give up on addressing the problems of the “real” world in favor of creating a simpler model of the world (or any other profoundly complex system) whose problems are easier to “solve.” This, many argue, is precisely the bait-and-switch that many governments and plutocracies have been pulling for the past half-century – but have we actually been deceived, or are we just complicit?
This show, due to its length, will have an intermission. Suggested donation at the door.
