The Northwest Screenwriters Guild and Northwest Film Forum are pleased
to announce the four finalists for the 11th Annual Washington State Screenplay Competition. Finalist
screenplays, in no particular order, are Crawl by David Rech of Seattle, Gravity Gaming by Ruth
Mary Kulstad of Seattle, Castaway Vacation by Deborah Kellogg of Woodinville, and Revising
Romance by Kathy Dunnehoff of Kalispell, Montana.
The finalists were chosen from a field of 70
entries. Among other prizes, the top screenplay will be featured in a Variety and Hollywood
Reporter advertisement and publicity releases sent to film industry and script-related publications
. The winner will also enjoy a staged script reading with a cast of talented Seattle actors at the
11th annual Local Sightings Film Festival, NWFF's October 2008 festival of Northwest film and video.
The winner of the film competition, along with two runners up, will be announced on September 15.
"We co-sponsored this competition as part of our commitment to support Northwest screenwriters, as
well as promote and encourage the craft of screenwriting at a professional level," said Aadip Desai,
President, Northwest Screenwriters Guild. On a regular basis, NWSG provides local screenwriters an
opportunity to pitch their scripts to Hollywood executives and producers. The August event will
include individual pitch sessions with Hey Day Films and Donner's Company.
