Festival Trailer 2010!

Three Sundays, Jan. 4, 11 & 18, 12-2pm

Join forces with Seattle filmmaker Craig Downing to create, from start to finish, the film trailer that will publicize our 2010 edition of Children's Film Festival Seattle. This intensive three-week workshop will take kids from pre-production through shooting, to editing the finished film. The workshop will culminate in the screening of the trailer at the closing ceremonies of this year's festival. From the nuts and bolts of filmmaking to the glamour of a world premiere, this workshop provides a comprehensive fast-track experience in creating movie magic.

Something to Hold On To: A Documentary Filmmaking Workshop

Do you have a favorite toy, stuffed animal or special blanket? You've had it forever, you always fall asleep holding it close, and now it's about to fall apart? This one-day workshop will focus on your special relationship— after all, you've been through a lot together! Along the way we'll explore the documentary film process of gathering words, images and sounds to tell the story of this very special friendship. This workshop is based on the Houghton Mifflin Children's book, Creature Comforts, People and their Security Objects by Barbara Collopy O'Halloran, with photographs by Seattle photographer, Betty Udesen.

Lego Zombie Attack! The Movie

Saturday, Jan. 17, 12–3pm
Instructor: Clyde Peterson

Recommended for children ages 8 and older.

The plot: The year is 2009. Civilization is collapsing. Only the Lego People can save the world from invading space zombies! The filmmakers: 10 kids. Their medium: the world's greatest interlocking plastic toy. Students will create the story, the sets and the characters, then make those Legos come to life in all of their superb glory. Students are invited back to the festival's closing night to see their work on the big screen!
