Now more than ever, film is a powerful tool for amplifying voices, inciting empathy, and shedding light on social issues. As visual storytellers, filmmakers have invaluable skills to offer to the community. Grassroots groups that champion progressive causes lead the way in creating and inspiring positive change. At this meet-up, filmmakers and community groups can link up for video projects that highlight important social change work.

6pm: happy hour in the lobby
7pm: Panel – Amy Benson, Eli Kimaro, Jill Friedberg and Molly Michal will share their experience making videos for causes, tips for visioning and collaborating, and examples of successful videos.
7:30pm: Quick pitch by orgs to filmmakers
 —
Filmmakers: learn best practices for how to be an ally and work effectively and respectfully to help amplify a community story or cause. Connect with organizations doing important work in the Seattle area.
Community-based organizations and groups: Do you have a need or story that could be well met by filmmakers? Come connect with filmmakers. You can also prepare a short (two minute or less) casual verbal pitch that includes a) Who you are and what your org/cause does, b) the need, concept or story, and c) the scope and end target of the project (e.g. a 3 minute web video.) Bring cards for the breakout portion of the event and meet more filmmakers!
