What does it mean to dance yourself to death?

Vernae is a darkly cinematic, radically immersive experience based on Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring. Equal parts live performance, sculptural/sound installation and film screening, Vernae is a collaboration born of 29 local and international artists: sculptors, designers, musicians, visual artists, filmmakers, dancers, and performance artists who have been developing this work as a film (set to premiere in Fall of 2015) for over a year.

This live manifestation of the Vernae universe will explore themes of contagion, urge, and sacrifice through experimental, abstracted representations of ritual. A long-form, interactive event, Vernae will feature segments of traditionally framed performance and film screening but will also allow audience members to freely explore and interact with an expansive, richly transformed environment over a four hour period. Special ticket pricing: $15 General Admission/$12 for Film Forum Members.
