GRID is a Seattle-based project founded in 2011 by drummer Jen Gilleran with the intention of exploring improvisation within structure most often using film as inspiration. GRID has scored to the films of Alan Lomax, Maya Deren, Ilya Chaiken, Fritz Lang and others. Each GRID performance is different from the last, as Gilleran changes the instrumentation to serve the film, the space in which it is seen, and/or to offer fresh interpretations of the work.
