The film industry isn’t the only medium taking fire from the digital war on analog. The casualties of the digital wars have been many, including some of our favorite record stores. Sound it Out is director Jeanie Finlay’s portrait of the last surviving record store in her hometown of Teesside, England, an elegy to the importance of these mediums and a homage to community.

Sound It Out documents a cultural haven in one of the most deprived areas in the UK, a place that is thriving against the odds. Funny, heartfelt and intimate, the film is a love letter to music and a witty, incisive exploration of a thriving community who see the shop as a cultural oasis in the homogenous march of chain-store Britain. If it doesn't make you rush home and check out your vinyl collection, it's because you never loved music in the first place.
