Color Me Obsessed

Oct 21 - Oct 23, 2011

(Gorman Bechard, 2011, USA, DigiBeta, 123 min)

Seattle Premiere!

Director In Attendance Friday & Saturday!

Gorman Bechard’s newest film is a strange animal: A documentary whose subject never actually appears. Bechard has been a diehard fan of 1980s rock icons, The Replacements, for nearly thirty years—Color Me Obsessed is a movie about that fandom. Unlike other music documentaries there is no concert or other footage of the band—in fact, Bechard still has not met a single member of The Replacements. Their music appears nowhere on the soundtrack. Instead, the film engages fans like Dave Foley, critics like Robert Christgau and other musicians like Colin Meloy and Lori Barbero to talk about this iconoclastic, deeply influential group and their music. It is a movie about having a favorite band, to which anyone who has ever had a favorite band can relate.

Head over to the Comet Tavern after Friday’s 7pm screening for a Replacement cover band night!

“A shockingly refreshing and invigorating experience for anyone who has ever cared about any kind of music at all.” —Sarah Kurchak, CHARTattack
