Northwest Film Fund
The Northwest Film Fund supports documentary film projects at any stage of completion in the Northwest (which includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska). The inaugural award will be $10,000 in cash along with a package of services to 80 hours of post-production services with leading Seattle post houses, legal consultation and “first look” deals with KCTS-Channel 9 and the Seattle International Film Festival.
Who can apply? All filmmakers in the northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska) are invited to apply. A panel of judges, including industry experts, will review applications make the final selection. Jurors will also be invited to offer master classes and panel discussions, open to all documentary filmmakers.
Who will be awarded? Northwest Film Forum supports artistically ambitious films of all kinds, unique in content and form.
The Film Forum has nurtured filmmakers since 1995, having supported over 700 Northwest projects through our artist support programs. The Northwest Film Fund was created to offer vital support to emerging filmmakers, to help promising films transition more rapidly from the planning stage to production, and to provide a platform to introduce excellent new documentaries into the world.
The Northwest Film Fund receives generous support from A.J. Epstein, Humanities Washington, Margot Kenly and Bill Cummings, the Martin-Fabert Family Foundation and Philip and Christina Wohlstetter. The Film Forum is proud to carry on the legacy that Humanities Washington created in the , which was created in 2003 and which from then to 2005 supported 10 local documentary films, including the award winning “Wheedle’s Groove,” and “Made in China.”

Eligibility:
The applicant must be the director (or a co-director) or a producer of a documentary currently in production or pre-production. The applicant must be a current resident of Washington State, Oregon, Montana, Idaho or Alaska.
Any project with a director or producer serving as a current NWFF staff or board member is ineligible.
