Creatures Everywhere! Animation with Household Objects

Learn how to combine and animate household objects for the camera. From marshmallow puppets to choreography with office supplies, we'll go through basic tricks for making an object seem as if it has a life of its own. Students will make puppets from ordinary objects, and then bring their creations to life under the camera with stop-motion animation. Come to class with an active imagination, all materials will be provided, and a DVD will be made for the kids to keep.

Something to Hold On To: A Documentary Filmmaking Workshop

Do you have a favorite toy, stuffed animal or special blanket? This one-day workshop will focus on your special relationship -- after all, you've been through a lot together! Along the way we'll explore the documentary film process of gathering words, images and sounds to tell the story of this very special friendship. This workshop is based on the Houghton Mifflin Children's book, Creature Comforts, People and their Security Objects by Barbara Collopy O'Halloran, with photographs by Seattle photographer, Betty Udesen.
